LYS 334 FLOOR LAMP
Lys 334 Floor Lamp Information:
Lys 334 Floor Lamp by Oluce. Floor lamp giving direct and reflected light. Painted metal structure, turned aluminium reflector. Dimmer power control and brightness adjustment. Of all the types of lighting, the "floor lamp" is today perhaps the one in greatest difficulty. The undoubted revival of the central lighting point on the ceiling and the consequent proliferation of chandeliers has reduced it to a marginal role compared to the glories of the '60s and '70s.
Daniele Ruzza and Silvana Angeletti seem to find their starting point in this reflection and, in designing Lys, make specific reference to that extraordinary moment of Italian lighting design. The moment of the great masters: Joe Colombo, the Castiglioni brothers, Gino Sarfatti. That is how Lys rejects the excess materials and colours of contemporary floor lamps, sometimes sculptures, sometimes monsters, to return to a sophisticated, contained elegance.
Slender on a tripod, equipped with a trumpet-shaped head, it characterises the space without getting in the way. Also available in the traditional halogen version, it is enhanced by a brand new LED version: finally, the new sources, with dimmable mains voltage, are also used on the floor lamps, with flawless light output and extraordinary durability. The two versions are distinguished by a methacrylate disc which, resting on top in the LED model, draws a circle of light, a small halo.
The previous product also comes in the suspended Lys version, which on one hand takes advantage of the great elegance of the design of the head, and on the other the considerable lighting power in relation to the contained dimensions in terms of volume. Lys 334 Floor Lamp by Oluce are designed by Angeletti Ruzza.

About Oluce Company
Oluce was established in 1945 by the master Giuseppe Ostuni. Oluce is one of the oldest Italian lighting company's that is still working today. Some of the earlier works by Gio Ponti in 1954 was a new floor lamp ''Agnoli'' a spot light supported on a stem with the absence of a lamp shade. In the 1960 Joe Colombo collaborated with Oluce on several award winning design like the Spider, Fresnel and Coupe which 1967 won the first ''Compasso d'oro'' award for Oluce. This was also the first time the idea of a "lamp family" was presented with the Spider model. In 1972 Oluce released the Colombo desk lamp, the first halogen table light.
Through the change of ownership at Oluce, Vico Magistretti became art director for many years and continued the company tradition of unmistakable design which lead to the birth of the Atollo, Lester, Sonora, Pascal, Lyndon, Piazza San Marco and Dim. The complete collection includes Laterna, Fiore, Bianca, Drop, Diamond, Can-Led, Nerolia, Pin Stripe, Teda and Stones of Glass.
